The Museum of Fake Art: art with a smile
Art is fun, they think at the Museum of False Art. And they have plenty of art there: paintings, graphic art, glass art, sculptures. You can quietly enjoy it, but also laugh out loud. Especially at the fake art.
The Museum of Falke Art is a hobby that got out of hand by two art collectors, Henk and Erna Plenter. It has long ceased to be a hobby with 6,000 visitors a year. The museum is known for its guided tours of the falke art, which are very entertaining. All the tricks of forgers are discussed, including the stories about the master forgers, such as Han van Meegeren and Geert Jan Jansen. What is the difference between a forgery and a copy? How are people cheated? How do you make sure you don't get ripped off? Expert guides tell you all about it, with a wink.
But there is more to experience. Lots of real art. For example, there is special contemporary glass to see. A collection that the Museum of Falke Art is particularly proud of and has many unique pieces. The Museum is also known for its exhibitions. Names that you would not expect in Vledder, such as Klaas Gubbels, Lucebert and Anton Heyboer, are exhibited here. There is a new exhibition three times a year. Then there is the library with work by Drenthe masters and not to forget the sculpture garden, provided in collaboration with the Gallery ‘Beeldschoon’ in De Pol.
So something for everyone, falke and real!
