The area is perfect for hiking, cycling and mountain biking, there is fishing water and a lake where you can swim within walking distance.
You can go back in time at the Ellert and Brammert open-air museum, the museum village of Orvelte or the Hunebedcentrum in Borger. Just over half an hour's drive away, you will find the shopping centres of Emmen, Assen and Stadskanaal, and the city of Groningen is also within easy reach.
In short, there is something for everyone.
Some 7 kilometres away are the villages of Borger and Schoonoord, where you can go for your daily groceries.
