The atmosphere that Vincent van Gogh described in his letter when he arrived
in Zweeloo can best be experienced here in Oud-Aalden. Here and there time
seems to have stood still.
'The ride into the village was really so beautiful. Huge mossy roofs on
houses, barns, sheepfolds, sheds. The dwellings here are very wide,
among oak trees of a superb bronze.'
