This hamlet, located on the Westersebos road forms a very old settlement based on four sand ridges, along with the former hamlets of Kerkeinde, Middendorp and Oosterse Bos. On the right, you can see the municipality of Coevorden with its 'normal' pastures, while the pastures in the former municipality of Schoonebeek on the left have all been split up into long, narrow strips.
Vincent travelled around the Nieuw Amsterdam area and marvelled at this remarkable difference.
