In the correspondence with his brother, Vincent and Theo wrote about the
artist Max Liebermann who painted in Zweeloo. Vincent visited the village
especially for this German painter. Van Gogh hoped to meet Liebermann
because he missed the conversations with other artists during his lonely stay in
Drenthe.
