From Nieuw-Amsterdam/Veenoord, host Scholte departed on November first at 3 o'clock in the morning via Zweeloo, towards the Assen market. Vincent travelled with him to Zweeloo. Vincent arrived at his destination at 6 o'clock in the morning at the crack of dawn. He wanted to meet other painters in Zweeloo, including the German painter Max Liebermann.
