Our 4-person holiday home “The tenth block” is located between Dalen, Coevorden and Zwinderen on the Coevorden-Zwinderen canal, which is connected to the Verlengde Hoogeveense vaart. Traditionally, our current dairy farm is an arable farm and was built in 1935. Before reclamation, this area actually consisted mainly of peat, called the Zwindersche Veld. The plot where our farm is now located was called “the 10th block” after it was cleared, hence the name for the holiday home. Several families have lived in this farm. The house was completely renovated in 1993/1994 and a second home was also built which is now our holiday home.
As you have already read, we have a dairy farm. Our cows are milked by robots, also called a VMS (Voluntary Milking System) system. During your stay with us, a tour (if you like) should certainly not be missed and we will proudly tell you about our farm.
From the holiday home you have a great view over the fields and the canal. With your own driveway, entrance and garden, you can enjoy all the peace and space. All rooms are on the ground floor, which makes the house particularly suitable for disabled people.
The canal is ideal for fishing and there is even a jetty that can be used. A lovely bit of sailing is also one of the options (rowing boats are available).
There are numerous attractions in the area of art, culture, history and nature. In places such as Dalen, Gees, Zwinderen, Nieuwlande, Erm, Sleen and many more. Actually too many to mention because every place has its own unique beauty and attraction. Seasonal activities such as the summer markets in Dalen (the village between the mills), the Drentse Fiets4Daagse and the Harbor Days in Coevorden are also definitely worth a visit.
If you prefer shopping, there are plenty of options in the area. Larger shopping centers such as Emmen, Hoogeveen and Hardenberg are about a 20-minute drive away. Zwolle and Groningen are an hour's drive away.
Drenthe is the province par excellence for holiday guests who enjoy walking. Taking a lovely walk through one of the various national parks in the area is definitely recommended. But the area around the holiday home also offers many walking opportunities.
But of course Drenthe is also the cycling province with its variety of cycling routes via the extensive junction network. You can continue on one of the many junction routes from the house.
If you are hungry after an active day, the village of Dalen has extensive catering facilities with beautiful and cozy terraces.
Our website contains various links to the many activities and attractions in the area. There are also numerous walking and cycling routes physically present in the house and many brochures.
We hope to see you soon.
Greetings from the Luttikhuis family
