Over the centuries, many artists have been inspired by Zweeloo and surrounding brinkdorpen and esdorpen, prompting Aalden, Benneveld, Meppen, Wezup and Zweeloo to band together to form Artist's Village Zweeloo, a member of the European group of EuroArt villages.
