Do you want to test your climbing skills? Drenthe is a great place to do so nowadays. A brand new cycling course on the VAM-berg opened in October 2018, and it is a true climbing heaven for athletic cycling enthusiasts.
The Col du VAM course offers three climbs and one descent. The course is 2.1 kilometres long and has an average gradient of 10%. At the end of the northernmost climb, a 150 metre cobblestone path with an incline of no less than 15% awaits you. Grit your teeth and get to it!

There is also a special mountain bike course, with many spectacular climbs and descents, which is open to the public. Along the way, you encounter, among other things, a 300 metre platform and a 60 metre floating bridge. There are two connecting routes to the VAM-berg for mountain bikers: one from the Boslounge in Spier and the other one from Sleen. The typical MTB signs mark the MTB course on the VAM-berg.
The Col du VAM is approximately 48 metres high. After the climb, you are rewarded with a magnificent view of the surroundings. The information centre, De Blinkerd, is at the top of the VAM-berg.
